But the doc says my insides are a mess! Does that make me ugly?
No wonder I am single

I think our insides are COOL, and how many people get to look at them with such frequency!!!!
I don't think you're ugly, i think you're complicated and intriguing. See its all in the way you look at it.

I think I'll always be single too. I don't think of it as a bad thing, I just think that with having Crohn's disease, we see life in a much different perspective, which most people don't understand. Plus really, you're on a date and you gotta throw in.. oh yeah, by the way I crap alot, my meds cost over $1000 per month blah blah blah haha, I joke about
it, but I have found very few guys who really, when it comes down to it can deal. OOOO well.... Plus I love seeing pictures of my insides! haha.

Now of course you are going to stay single with that attitude... I am a 33 year old fat chronie with a hubby and 2 kids... they love me a lot. Don't give up you never know where you might find your match!! Probably will find him/her in a Dr office since that is where most of us go. Sometimes I feel like introducing myself there. I figure we might have a lot in common Of Course you are beatiful on the inside. The human body is amazing scars and all! Karen

What about
going to a Crohns chapter event and maybe joining the committee and getting to know some fellow crohnies. You never know, it could lead into a relationship and you would both know about
each others disease. I went to a Crohns walk and I met some really wonderful people there and if I was single thats where I would start.
Just a thought.

Wolfie,
Thanks for the suggestion, but the closest chapter is almost 3 hours away by car.
Karen,
Where you dating when you were ill?
I think being ill and dating are difficult. Especially if one is a larger woman. I mean I know I am not unattractive, but it is like I have become invisible the heavier I have gotten. Granted I am six feet tall and I weight about
280 right now. I have gotten comment "you are pretty, but you are fat"...LOL which of course cracks me up, but of course it does hurt as well. I have to admit if I did not have the background I do it would get to me alot more.
I actually have been doing a study on being chronically ill (and internet dating) and I have overwhelmingly gotten the responce of "why are you dating if you are ill?" usually my response is something along the lines of just because I am ill does not mean my life has stopped and I refuse to let it limit my life like that. After about
the 20th guy who said something to that extent I had to stop my study. At least for right now.
Althought I have to admit that being sick has limited my life, and there is a sense of loss involved transitioning from being a well person to a chronically ill person. It has gotten to the point I cannot work and it is very difficult to even go half time to school. I am certainly not the person who I use to be. Use to go climbing, skiing, hiking, and worked out all the time. Now it is hard for me to walk 100 feet because I am in so much chronic pain due to orthro injuries. Hard to go to the movies without having an accident due to the lines in the bathroom.

Navy-I'm taken aback at how many people could ask you that...It makes me so sad to think that so many are of the mind we're not normal human beings with natural needs anymore...
I hope you guys realize how beautiful you are. I think the world of you every time I read your posts, and I am so hoping you find someone that can recognize just how great you are.

I was dating when ill but had no idea it was CD. My hubby has stood by me through all this. As much sickness I had the entire time knew him (married 13 years dated 3) most guys would have thought I was faking or maybe a hypocondriac (sp?) I do think dating while sick would be hard but don't give up. I was a lucky one that met my soulmate when I was young. I agree with meeting people at CD events, who better to date than someone that truly understands! Karen
