Have you had bleeding after colonoscopy?

Just wanted to benchmark. My daughter recently had a colonoscopy - later, she had bleeding show up...not just one or two spots of blood, but a toilet bowl tinged with blood (not a ton).

It resolved itself within about seven hours after the colonoscopy (and just when she was beginning to panic) - a hot bath seemed to help settle a bunch of symptoms down. 

Since she had no bleeding after the first and only previous colonoscopy, am still wondering whether we should have called the GI at the time. 

Have any of you had bleeding after a colonoscopy?

Yes, I have and it really isn't anything to panic about. I thought it was because of all the tools they use as they do the colonoscopy. If you've seen the actual tool itself, it is pretty long and it goes way up there. My GI said that she was actually able to go all the way up to the small intestines the last time. I always bleed after a colonoscopy and I think it is pretty normal. I wouldn't worry, only if the bleeding doesn't stop.

I have had blood especially when they have taken biopsies.

Normal in proportion to the number of biopsies taken. When I get them now I insist on a ton of biopsies which does unfortunately mean quite a bit of blood, tapering off over a couple days or sometimes a bit longer. An IBD gut is also slower to heal. A colonoscopy in a "normie" may not even involve so much as one biopsy unless they see something odd such as a polyp.

Mind you, if it continues and you're still concerned, then yes, ring someone.
