Could 'Heathereno' post reply again please as can't seem to find it. Thanks!
Hi everyone. Last August I had a subtotal colectomy with an illeostomy and mucus fistula. When my bowel was checked they were unsure whether UC or Crohns, after a series of tests, endoscopy and video capsule, they are now erring on the side of Crohns. I was hoping to get linked back up with an illeo-rectal as my rectum (they said back in August) was spared.
I have just had a flexsigmoid to test my sigmoid colon and rectum and they have said I have inflammation and a bad stricture in the sigmoid near the rectum, and have said there is nothing that can be done? The only option is to have it removed, get closed up and have a permanent stoma, unless I can find a surgeon to do a pouch with Crohns!
Has anyone out there had trouble with their sigmoid before, and was and can anything be done at all before it is all taken away?Eg Steriod enemas, strictureplasty anything at all?
Any advice would be appreciated as I go back to see the consultant on Wednesday.
Many thanks
Deb
