fistula

I am anxious that I am developing a fistula.

I had a peri-anal abscess that was drained about a week and half ago and seems to be healing well, but i have developed a few small irritating bumps around the area. They are not draining or painful, but a little bit itchy/uncomfortable.

I have never had a fistula, but know they are a risk after an abscess. Any advice on how to know? or symptoms to look for? I have a follow-up appt on friday with my surgeon, but i guess am just trying to ease my anxiety now :-/ good thing is I am on cipro, so hopefully nothing gets worse.

Yeah, you know the difference. Both are a real pain. I have one of each right now. had the abcess drained last week, oops it's still here.I am beginning to feel bad for doc cowboy(as i call him.) it is very frustrating for the doc'c too.he is sending me some old fashioned lidocain until i feel well enough to drive 2 hours to see him. good luck and God Bless too.
