Tammy - Yes, they do look like bites of some sort. Don't know if you've read all the postings about NOT LETTING ANYONE DEBRIDE THESE THINGS! They only make them grow. PG wounds should not be debrided, or "messed with" as Penny says. As for wound covering, I swear by Polymem, not sure if you can use this on your leg. My wound is on my abdomen and buttock. My wonderful doc that took me a very long journey to find put me on 60 mg Pred, 45 drps per day SSKI drops (potassium iodine), and 100 mg of Dapsone. Saw results in 2 weeks. My abdominal wound is about 6 x 6. It has finally scabbed over and will be a scar I'm sure. As for when I go completely off the Pred, who knows? But we're hopeful. But doc tells me he has a plan B. That's what I like to hear - if Plan A doesn't work, we have a Plan B. This doc seems very familiar with PG and how to treat varying degrees of it. He runs the Somerset Skin Centre in Troy, Michigan. Perhaps have your doc contact him. Some doctors' egos are so big they wouldn't consult someone else; but to me the sign of a good doctor is one who says, "I don't know what the heck to do, let's find someone who does." Thankfully, that's what happened in my situation. I am now showing signs of another condition, lupus in nature, for which I am being tested. He also has a plan for that as well.
Anyway, keep us posted....Warmly, Kathy
