bad headache..came off Prednisone..only after five days..GI said i didn't need to ween?

If you don't agree with or trust your GI then it's probably time to get a second opinion and/or new doctor. This disease is too serious to be going to someone who isn't as serious as you are.

Are you sure that your GI said that Remicade would not help specifically fistulas? Because that is one of the EXACT things that Remicade is approved for... I really believe you must have heard him wrong, because thats like elementary GI knowledge.

The only reason GI's really have you taper is so that your body which has natural steriods in it, will start making these steriods once again. You see when you get above say like 20mg of Prednisone your body stops making the natural steriods because your taking enough by mouth to accomplish what needs to be done. So when you come off, your Dr might wean you to make sure your natural steriods kick back in and are starting to be made once again, which can be found by a simple blood test. Sometimes if you get to around 20 or 15mg and drop down to say like 10mg and your still not making your bodies steriods then your Dr may up your prednisone again back to around 20 to 25mg and then taper once again until your bodies steriods are made once again.
