They finally came in the mail and I am a chicken lol. I am nervous to use it. Has anyone used them before? They say to keep the position all night if possible but I really don't want to sleep on my bathroom floor for the next two weeks :( I don't like this!!!!!

no, you'll be fine. i used them for years way back in the day. it is uncomfortable, inserting the enema and then administering the contents. it may be hard to retain at first, but if you can grin and bear it, it passes and you should be fine. however, if you feel the slightest urge to go the bathroom or even gas, RUN to the can as fast you can cos it will all come out and probably with some surprises too. so at first it may be a good idea to sleep with a towel or two on top of your sheets. you can put a large plastic trash bag under the towels to prevent seepage if there is any leaking while you are in bed. i very rarely had a problem with them. sometimes i could walk around for a while, others i had to lie down and stay motionless to retain it. it was odd. if you dont like the enemas, they make suppositories and there is cortifoam, which is much easier to retain.

ahh! That is exactly what I am afraid of lol. I am so scared that I'm going to have to go and not make it to the bathroom :( I don't think I would be able to sleep on the floor though and I feel sorry for everyone that talks to me the next day if I do :P They also sent them with no instruction. They sent 14 so I assume its one a night for 2 weeks.

Thank you for sharing! I feel a little better knowing what to expect. I couldn't make myself do it tonight, hopefully I can stop being such a baby and start it tomorrow. I just have to remember that the benefit outweighs the cost!

....oh wow I just thought about something too....I have a fistula....soo its probably going to leak out. I don't know what the consistency is but I took a regular enema before my seton placement and it was squirting out cry It's been awhile since I've done the real woe is me bit and it could definitely be worse but what I wouldn't give to be someone else for a week

I have done these for years. I do it in the bed and just put the empty enema on my nightstand. My husband is right next to me so I would wait till we turned the lights off. I do have some immediate cramping sometimes (last no more than two minutes) and I just focus on my breathing. Don't freak out if your stool is white the next morning, this is just from the medicine that didn't get absorbed. These enema's will usually clear up my bleeding and have worked wonders in the past, since most of my disease is in my rectum/sigmoid.

I am not currently on them, but out of habit, I always lay on my left side to fall asleep!

Thank you...I needed the encouragement :( I have been falling asleep in my chair to avoid "going to bed" because I don't want to do it =\ It just makes me so miserable to even think about it. I'm nervous to try it in the bed the first time because I don't know how I will respond to it but that is a good idea for the future, thank you. I know I really need to do it because I don't want to deal with the cramping/mucus/pain anymore but whhhhyyyyy lol.

Well I just wanted to let you guys know that I stopped chickening out and I feel a bit silly. It wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be..no leaking from the fistula and I was even able to walk around for a bit before bed with no trouble. On top of it all, I even got to sleep in this morning because I didn't wake up in the wee hours in pain!!! I feel great today, no pain, no bumming out, nothing. So thanks for the encouragement. Hope everyone has a great weekend! :D
