New member rcooke1129 has a question

I was having diahrea several times a day for close to 2 weeks, even when I didn't eat or drink anything. For 2 days following I was really constipated. I would have severe abdominal pain. After those 2 days, I finally made a bm, but it had a big white patch in it. I've now had 3 bms with white patches. I am trying to figure out why this is occuuring... At the same time I was also having really bad headaches, nausea and feels like pressure against my left lung when laying on the left side.
Ididn't used to observe my bms, but after having bloody stools a few months ago, I have started observing... to notice any problems.
btw, I don't eat cheese, so I'm thinking that is not the reason its been occuring.
Any thoughts??

The diarrhea is generally a reaction to bacteria in the gut. It is either due to toxins that the bacteria secrete or a strong immune system response targeting intestinal bacteria. Mucous is also a sign that the gut is trying to expel bacteria. The headaches and nausea are common problems associated with Crohn's. Both could be due to the upset electrolyte balance resulting from long term diarrhea. Your mention of pressure on the left lung could be due to swollen small intestines beside the lung, but be sure to mention that one to your doctor for his input. You might also want to ask about help for your electrolyte balance. You need to be cautious about constipation. It could indicate a blockage or partial blockage, especially when accompanied by pain. Have you had a recent colonoscopy or small bowel follow-through? It sounds like there is some thing happening there.
