I also have an abdominal fistula, its located about
an inch directly above my bellybutton. Because of my wonderful 50lb weight gain while on Pred I joined a gym to work it off. I asked my GI and surgeon before I did this. They said that exersice is absoluely fine. I told them my workouts would consist of about
500 sit ups a day 4 days a week, as well as other core strengthening exersices (pilates and such) They simply said what I can handle....I can do, but if I were to feel weird pains or pulling to stop obviously. As far as pushing through the Crohns pains in general...I think most of us do this on a daily basis. But certainly if your feeling worse then usual one day don't push yourself. I refuse to let this disease take control of my life...but some days it has the upper hand on me.
EDIT: daisy, I just have some questions for you. How did your abdominal fistula come about? Mine happened after I had a resection, I developed an abscess twice, which then turned into a fistula. I don't know much about them...or have seen anyone else here with one. How do you deal with it? Does yours drain a lot (do you have a bag) or do you just pack it? Are you having surgery to correct it or are you on meds to try to heal it. I've had mine since December, I thought I had come to terms with it, but I'm starting to get really depressed about it. You're the same age as me, so I bet we can relate a lot, if you want to email back and forth let me know and I'll send you my email!!
