Was probed ultrasonically for 25 minutes yesterday before the technician said "I am now going to do the bowels". I thought that was what I had come for but she had done the liver, kidneys, gall bladder, uterus, ovaries, etc. Before Dr. Wilson came to Calgary from Toronto two years ago, they ignored the bowels because they didn't know what to look for and she wants a thorough exam.
The reason for the ultrasound was that during surgery (colon resection) four months ago the surgeon saw some creeping fat and slight stricturing in the terminal ileum. I have questioned this ever since as to whether this should have been removed while he was in there (previous thread) although others on the forum have made me feel better about that.
Dr. Wilson said she saw "a little bit of nothing" in the ileum, the rest of the colon looked "beautiful". Huge relief. Either it was minor at the time of surgery, the metho is doing it's job or both.
They did find a spot on my liver which she said was definately vascular (two small veins fused together) and thinks it could be a small abnormality that I have had my whole life.
Saw my GI later and he wants to have another ultrasound in 6 months to make sure it hasn't changed and a colonoscopy six months after that at which time we will reassess things.
Meanwhile I will stay on methotrexate and life is good.
