Hello. I posted a few weeks back asking for information about preps. And now I could use your help again, if you don't mind.
about ten years ago, I had an anaphylactic reaction (hives; throat, lips, tongue swelling; increased heart rate; etc) to Golytely. I asked my doctor about possibly using Miralax which I learned about from some of your postings. She told me it shared ingredients with Golytely, so it wasn't a possibility for me. Instead, she prescribed OsmoPrep, the pill prep.
Unfortunately, I had an anaphylactic reaction to the OsmoPrep as well. It was an awful experience, but I'm doing ok now. I was just shocked that I had an allergic reaction to another prep. I've never had allergic reactions to any other medications. The only other thing that I know I'm allergic to is tree nuts and those reactions have been very mild. (Of course, with allergies a mild reaction could change to a servere reaction next time.)
Have any of you ever had an allergic to a prep? My doctors/ pharmacists seem very surprised. I'm not sure how often this happens.
Do you guys mind sharing any other preps you've had success with or that you've heard about? I'd sure appreciate any suggestions.
Ten years ago I ended up using magnesium citrate. I had no allergic reaction to it, but I had a very hard time getting it down and keeping it down. I'd hate to go through that again, but of course it's better than anaphylaxis!
