ovary type pain???

I have had pain since the age of 16, on my lower right side. Sometimes a dull crampy aches, sometimes severe pain which would leave me bedridden and unable to function.  It ALWAYS accompanied my monthly cycle and was always assumed to be cramping from menstruation. No OB/Gyn could ever find a solution that worked. For a while I took Vioxx. It was a miracle to lawsuits brought those days to an end.  Everyone said once I had kids, this would go away. It didn't. Finally, after a night at the ER, one OB removed my right ovary and appendix for me.  My pain has almost completely gone away.  That said, I occassionally do still get the dull ache.  When he asked how I was doing at my last visit, I told him there is still some ocassional pain. He said "oh honey, go see a GI doc. Maybe you have Crohn's" I was like CROHN'S??? That was the first time anyone had mentioned that. Why did no one mention that in 25 years of pain???  Anyway, I got busy, never got to a GI, never been scoped. I'm 42 now and my pain is all but gone.  Meantime, my daughter who is 9 presented with illness, and in short was diagnosed with Crohn's.  Holding her stomach crying, being relieved by a heating pad, fevering, chills...all reminded me of my "episodes".  I also had accomanyping pain in my groin area...and down my thighs and back with this.  I've still never quite figured it out.  Never any weight loss, never any anemia...only D when the episodes would occur about 3-4 times/year, sometimes less.  And the episodes went away almost completely when taking oral birth control.  Weird, I know.
