I was diagnosed about
2.5 years ago and am currently not on any medication. Started out trying a few anti-inflamm meds and I wasn't getting any relief. I started on fiber and a probiotic and have been in remission for about
2 years. Now I am flaring. I currently take FloraQ2, which has lactobacilius acidophilus. I'm wondering if I can take another probiotic at the same time and what would be best to take. Also, can I take two pills of the FloraQ2? I don't reallly want to because it is SOOO expensive, but if it's going to get me out of my flare, I will do it.

not sure of the "best", but what works for you. I stayed in remission for 4-5 years with "Sweet-A MILK'. It's just milk that has acidolphilus in it...makes it taste sweeter and last longer too. My GI recommended "Align" due to studies of improvement from that one strain on Crohn's symptoms (also helps IBS too...). I like that, and it is less expensive. However if you can get to a health food store you can find decent inexpensive ones too. PB4, a member of this group, has lots of info and threads about
finding a good probiotic fit for you.
I hope this helps...

I had tried a bunch of probiotics, with really bad results. So basically I gave up. Finally my doctor convinced me to try Align. It actually helped. But after about
6 months or so I was gradually having issues again. I asked if I could double up on the dose. He said that your body can get used to the specific strains in whatever brand of probiotic you are using. He said I could double up but since Align is so expensive to try PB8. Its less than half the cost. I took double the dose of PB8 for about
4 months and now I am taking one PB8 and one Align. So far so good.
But mainly, there are a lot of probiotics out there and you just need to find one that works for you and if it stops working try switching it up for a few months.

I feed my husband lots of SCD yogurt, and also VSL#3. He takes 2 packets of unflavoured VSL#3 daily, and about
3 12 oz cups of SCD yogurt daily. He also takes florastor (4 a day) since he's had problems with c-diff.
