Hi all,

I have this lovely cold if that wasnt enough now I am haivng frequent urges to urinate but passing very little. The only other time I had  a UTI I had no pain etc just foul smelling urine which with the cold I cant smell a thing.  I am also having burning pains in my groin area and pain in my lower back any ideas I called and have an appt with the Physicians Assistant in a lil less tha 24 hours but this pain is bad any suggestions ?

Does sound like a UTI, but it could be something else like stones of some sort if you've had problems with those before. It's good you're going to see the PA, they will be able to collect urine and test it. If it is a UTI, they will put you on some antibiotics like Bactrim or Cipro.

Hmm weird, I've had 2 UTIs and I don't remember having foul smelling urine with either (although I hear that this is possible). I also didn't have any lower back pain or anything (or groin pain that I remember), just felt like I had to pee constantly but nothing would come out. Have you considered the possibility of PID? You have the symptoms for it, although I suppose it could also be a UTI, I've just never had one like you described. If you have back pain due to a UTI, it seems like it must have spread to your kidneys. UTIs and PID can be easily mistaken for each other, though.

Actually decided to go to the ER was in lots of pain turns out I have a bladder infection and am passing blood in it. they placed me on Bactrim and I have to follow up with the PA in 3-5 days..if it isnt 1 thing it is another

Drink pure (naturally sweetend) cranberry juice everyday, besides the overall health benefits, it targets bladder and urinary tract health.

Ouch! I've had blood once too, it's painful. Glad you're on antibiotics, they usually kick in really fast at least. I agree with pb4, cranberry juice really helps. It's good to drink every day if you get recurring bladder infections/UTIs.

Yeah I am hopped up on pain meds the pain was what led me tonight I just couldnt wait ne longer of course as soon as I got to the ER My pain meds kicked in but better to get on that stuff sooner

I felt the brink of one coming on early this week.  I started drinking lots of Water AND Cranberry juice.  Plus I burned a little Sage to rid of any negative energy! smilewinkgrin
