In the past couple of weeks/months I've had significant back pain, and a very distended stomach/gas pain movement in that area.. I've also been more tired with a headache alot of the time. I haven't really felt quite this bad before with these specific symptoms, which brings me to today. I feel like someone filled me up like a balloon! Anyways I've been reading about
pentasa side effects and it says to talk to your doctor if you get gas, back/joint pain, headache, fatigue etc which I have. I have an appointment next Wednesday anyway cause I've felt like crap lately, should I just wait until then? Has anyone else experienced this?
I also feel like I'm losing more hair then usual in the shower!

I didn't feel that way at all on Pentasa. I would ask your gi about your problems...good luck!

There have been several people here that have reacted badly to the mesalamine drugs like Pentasa and Asacol. I think you should definitely discuss the new symptoms with your doctor. Also, if he/she tries to tell you that it can't possibly be the Pentasa, print out a list of the side effects and show him.

I take Asacol with success, but when I took Pentasa it gave me diarrhea and cramps. Good luck!

How many pills are you on? I had the same problem when they first put me on Pentasa the doctor I was seing was just a general gastro doctor and i was feeling worse when they put me on pentasa I ended up trying to find myself a specialized doctor for crohn. When I went to see the new doctor he informed me i was on the wrong dosage which was to low and he also gived me a cipro prescript
ion for 1 month to take at the same time and after that everything was good. I have now been on Pentasa for 10 years and since that day never had any problems.
Maybe its a side effect or maybe you weren't prescribed the right dosage.

hI I had a similar experience ever since i have been on pentasa i kept getting aches but put it down to being on my feet all day and wearing different shoes but on monday every joint ached it was so painful went to GP he sent me to get a blood test done but said it could be a reaction to the H1N1 shot as that can cause joint pain. I think it may be the pentasa as i had the aches before the shot will speak to my GI in jan. Bevx

thanks everyone, I will definitely be printing out my source of pentasa information to ask my GI about
it... I'm going through a bit of a rough patch and hoping maybe to be put back on entocort which seemed to work the first time and then maybe a different maintenance med that won't cause excruciating back pain!
