As you folks know, hubby has been on 40 mgs of prednisone now for almost 3 weeks for his arthritis issues. We saw the rheumatologist today, and she seemed pleased with his progress. So, he's now going to try to taper off the prednisone, starting today at 30 mgs.
30 mgs for 2 weeks, 20 mgs for 2 weeks, and then 15 mgs for another 2 weeks, and then we see her again before tapering further. In the meantime, in another 4 weeks, he'll be up for more remicade. She thinks it would still be good for him to be on methotrexate, but is ok with us trying t manage it without it, and only resort to using it if he has chronic problems.
He is going to start PT for his knee starting tomorrow, and slowly ease back into exercising. I do worry constantly that he's been on steroids so much, but the docs don't seem to think he needs a DEXA scan as yet. I hope once this is done, he won't have reason to be on steroids for a long time.
We had a good thanksgiving - I was oncall, and he is still just eating chicken and pasta, so we didn't really cook anything . . . but we worked on some puzzles, and watched some movies, and some friends came for a visit, and we played some cards. It was relaxing and good, and I was very grateful that we were at home, and that he was relatively well and not in any pain.
I hope all of you had a good holiday. Thank you all so much for your support.
