Hellow Everyone,

I was hoping some of you would share your stores concerning Humira and Pregnancy. My MD just prescribed this for me. It seems to be a class B drug for pregnancy - but when I start reading every publication has a different view of pregnancy and the drug. Just wondering if any of you on here have used it during pregnancy and what the outcome was?

I used it in with my 3rd baby. I started it in the 2nd trimester because I was on remicade during the 1st trimester and we figured out it wasn't working. Baby girl was born healthy and she's about to have her first birthday in 2 weeks. I'm still on Humira and we are currently ttc #4 (our last one!) and I plan to take humira the whole time too. I also breastfed on it for 7 months - the molecule is too large to pass through to the milk. I had a very good experience and was part of a small Humira-and-pregnancy trial that showed no problems or negative outcomes.

I am happy to hear you have had 3 babies so far. Did it take you long to conceive? I had surgery in April 09 and my whole cycle has been off since them - I am frustrated at this point. Thank you for letting me know you used humira. I would love to hear more stories from people who used it during pregnancy.

If your cycle is wonky, I'd HIGHLY recommend you get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility and start charting. It can help you and your doctor better understand what's going on and figure out how to best fix it.

It didn't take me more than 3 or 4 months to conceive my first two kids. It took me 10 months to conceive #3. This is our 4th month trying for #4. It's been different every time. I can't pinpoint any one thing for success except to be SURE of when you are going to ovulate and then go for it. :) I've also had 3 miscarriages at different points. I've gotten pregnant while healthy, while dreadfully ill, after trying only once and after trying for almost a year. I'm 37 years old and had my first baby at 31.

Definitely learn your body's signs of ovulation and get a little calendar to keep track of everything. Also just fyi - my own personal tip would be to NOT take your humira shot before ovulation. In simple terms Humira has anti-TNF-a properties (reduces inflammation) and your body uses TNF-a (inflammation) to bring about ovulation. It's not proven that Humira blocks ovulation, but it's my theory that it "could", so if I'm scheduled for my shot around ovulation, I wait until I know for sure that I've ovulated.
