Just want to post this as another SCD success story. Stuck with it for close to 9 months now and am completely asymptomatic. 1 bm a day. I think I was successful because I started it less than a year after my diagnosis (as it was progressing pretty quickly anyway). And btw, I did not see improvement the first month, second or third month on it. I did it anyway because it's the only hope I had for a semi-normal life. Glad I did. Peace.

I am glad to hear this diet is working well for you. I have found great success and remission on the low residue diet.

That's awesome. I have just took the plunge and am starting SCD. I'm hoping to have good results as well. Can I ask you, are you on any meds?

I also had success on the SCD, however, I fell of the wagon for a few years and that is when, I believe, I built up a lot of scar tissue because I was pigging out on all kinds of junk food for about 3 years without taking any meds whatsoever. I am paying the price now with a resection of scar tissue coming up in January. It is best to stay on the strict SCD for at least 2-5 years. 10 years is best to ensure that you are truly OK and you should have the pill cam done to make sure there is no inflammation or scaring is happening behind the scenes. Note: don't read into the pill cam too much -- if they did it on the general population of non-Crohn's people, some percentage would still show abnormalities.

Jp, which meds and supplements are you taking?

On October 28th your signature, copied and pasted below, said you were on Remicade since 6/09:

"Crohn's Colitis diagnosed 6/08
SCD since 4/09
Remicade since 6/09
Boswellia + Acidophilus
Remission"

Since you started the SCD in April, and the Remicade in June, then the time period you say the effects kicked in (July and beyond) looks like it overlaps with when you started Remicade.

So is it possible it is the Remicade that is working and not necessarily the SCD?  How can you tell which really helped?

this is what i do right now:

yoga for about 7 minutes in the morning (surya namaskara)
10 drops wild oregano oil 20 minutes before food, twice a day
1 pill Natren's Healthy Trinity probiotic, twice a day
3 pills boswellia, twice a day
1 pill cinnamon, twice a day
1 SCD multiivitamin
2 teaspsoon barlean's fish oil
meditation at night for 10 minutes
+SCD

yes i'm on remicade too so as you can see, i'm doing it all, the natural and medical route and it's working perfectly. Don't really care what is working right now though I suspect it's probably a combination of everything to some degree. I plan to stay on SCD for at least 2 years, maybe more.

I am a big believe in yoga as well and try to do about 30-45 mins a day. Plus I find it helps me not be such a klutz. I wish I could do the natarajasana again.

I tried the SCD, Sauted Crawfish Diet , years ago. Gained a lot of weight too, but MMMMMMMMMMMM them little mud bugs are good...
