I'm really anemic and seem to be really sensitive to iron. Does anyone have experience with Crohn's making iron reactions work. I was taking Hemoplex - it was giving me diarrhea and then I had a bad rxn to it (hives, rash). I changed to gluconate and it gave me bad cramping and diarrhea so I quit that too. Anyone have similar experiences? Any input?

Proferrin is the only one I've been able to tolerate.

Sorry to read that the pills aren't working. If your insurance covers it, speak to a hematologist about
IV iron infusions. It might help get your numbers up.

I moved to iron infusions - the pills just killed me, plus I must admit the infusions are so much easier (at least for me). They work faster, last longer, and you don't have to take a regular pill.

red blood cell production is linked to B12 so may want to increase your B12

The only iron I tolerate is thru IV infusion. Any pill or even vitamin with iron tore my stomach apart! It didn't cause diarrhea, just pain. So finally, dr. ordered me infusions. My CBC has been 12 since.
