Question.....Does anyone know if you can have a positive biopsy for Crohns Decease and not have the disease at all?? I ask this question because I was diagnosed with a biopsy and was in a flare for about six months. (several years ago) I have never had another flare, but have had other strange things going on. Bladder inflammation, that I need to have bladder installations done, very strange rashes on scalp, rash and trunk of body. and red cheeks. All of these symptoms happened while my dad was dying. One would think that I would have had a Crohns flare during this very stressful time. I am dealing with back issues at the present time, so I put this on the back burner. Doing a little research and symptoms seem to point to Lupus. I guess my question is the biopsy. Can it really be a false positive.

I think generally it says when the biopsies are positive that you do have Crohns. I only had two flares in the first 4 years of my life with Crohns, and then enjoyed an almost 20 year remission. So you just might have a milder case. I do hope you will get onto some type of maintainence meds as after a 20 year remission it ended abrupty and very ugly with an emergency resection for. I will always take my maintainence meds everyday from now on. While you are busy getting on with your life, the Crohns is always in there doing it damage on a miscroscopic level and It took forever to get my Crohns back under control. Also, I once had a Rheumatologist tell me that joint pain is often a precursor to a Crohns flare. Good luck!

Thanks for the infor....I am sure you are right, I only hope that I do not have another flair.
I did take my self off of all my maintanence meds, maybe not such a good idea.
Hope you are in remission now.

Yes I am in remission now and only use Asacol as my maintainence med. Alot of folks will start feeling better and stop their meds, thats exactly what I did. And as I stated before it ended with a very traumatic emergency resection for me. The GI (now fired) I had at the time told me after the surgery I no longer needed meds, so I didn't take them and ended up with another surgery only 3 years later. Whatever you do, do get on meds. I would hate for you to go thru what I did. Good luck!
