Anti-Depressants for Pain

My PCP put me on Lexapro.  He said is proven that anti-depressants help with crohnic pain.  And with Crohn's and gastroparesis, I'm constantly in pain.  I was wondering how many of us are also on anti-depressants? And if you noticed a change?

I am currently on Lexapro and about to switch to Cymbalta at the end of the month. I can't say the Lexapro has helped my pain because I also take weekly injects of Humira (which doesn't help my joint pain). I started both about the same time so I don't have a proper comparison of which drug did what. The reason I'm changing to Cymbalta is I am also a Fibro patient. My Rheumy advised me that the Cymbalta is often prescribed off label for diabetics to block pain in their feet. He feels this will help better than the Lexapro or Ultracet which I also take for pain. It is also non-narcotic. :) Always a plus.

I might add that Lexapro has shot the heck out of my husband and my sex life. We both take it. It's been suggested that Welbutrin is better about dealing with that nasty little side effect. However, Welbutrin makes me have weird dreams.
