I have a follow up with my GI on Friday.
I'm just trying to prepare myself for what she is going to say because she has a nack for delivering bad news and bad news. ;(
After getting diagnosed with an abscess/fistula and all sorts of moderate problems in the rectum, she wanted me to go on Remicade, which shocked me!
I've been med free for the past ten years, which she didn't like one bit.
I finally agreed to the Remicade, but the good ole HMO rooster blocked me and my GI, said that since I wasn't on any oral medication in the past ten years, I pretty much did not deserve the expensive meds.
So instead she prescribed me Lialda and I've been taking it for about a month now.
I started taking it right after I had my wisdom teeth taken out. Within a couple days, my mouth had broken out in so many canker sores. I even had an inch long one on the bottom side of my tongue and another on my bottom lip. I blamed the oral surgery, but could the Lialda have done that???
I take my Lialda after dinner, so I have noticed I am not as bad in the evening. For the first time, I've been experiencing more problems in the morning. I usually have 2-3 BMs before lunch, and when I do, I feel a greater sense of urgency, almost like I can't control myself as well as before I was taking Lialda. It's wierd. I didn't feel so bad, digestion wise, before I was taking Lialda, so it's hard for me to see any improvement.
As far as the abscess/fistula goes, it drained once right after I started Lialda and again on Sunday. Its size goes up and down, but it is definitely noticeable. It doesn't hurt really.
Do you think the lialda is helping?
Do you think she'll just say another month on lialda for you?
Will she push for another shot at Remicade?
Or will she take one look at this oversized lump and say SURGERY! boooo
I'm just trying to anticipate her response.
sigh
I wish they wouldn't have to cut up my junk.
