Anorectal Abscess

I dont have Chrons disease but every time I do a google search it brings me here about this abscess, so I figured I would make a post here about it and get some information.

Since I was about 16 or 17 (now 22) I would get this abscess about 2 or 3 times a year. It seems now almost every 3 to 4 months I get it now. I go to the doctor and get it drained and then pray I dont get it again.

I went to get a colonoscopy they said I dont have anything wrong and don't have chrons disease.

My rectal surgeon recommended me to get a Fistualotomy which would basically fix the problem, but wouldn't guarantee that It wouldn't happen in a different spot. So far its only been happening on the left side in the same general area.

My concern is, is IT possible to be getting this even with out a disease, COULD I have an underlying disease that a doctor missed? I got a complete blood work done everything was normal the doctor said but my WBC was a little on the lower normal side it was 4.0-10.5 for normal I was 4.9, doctor didn't seem concerned about it as he didn't mention it.

Has anyone had success with hospital surgery?

Are you sure it isn't a problem with the Bartholin gland?

I had that as a kid. When that cyst finally ruptured...phew! The only thing worse is having an abscess rupture!

It's near the vagina and it can become a cyst or an abscess.

When I first got my perianal abscess, I went to two diffrent doctors and they both told me it was a Bartholin abscess even though they both knew I had Crohn's.

When I finally saw a GI specialist, she told me it was a perianal abscess and directly caused by Crohn's disease, and definitely not a Bartholin.

So who knows??

If you're a woman, you should definitely consider that as a possibility!
