Yes, I agree with the other posters. I think your doc should check your ANA and your anti-ds-dna (the test for drug induced lupus). Also, a test for anti-ccp may also be in order (for rheumatoid arthritis), just to rule it out. My husband last year got some severe inflammation of the joints while on remicade (huge swelling, multiple joints, etc). His GI performed the ANA and anti-ds-dna tests immediately. The rheumatologist, just to be on the safe side did the anti-ccp test to rule out RA.
Hope you get some answers soon. I think inflammation is pretty common in crohn's disease - gut, joint, skin, eyes - they are all possibilities, and can happen, and do happen. Also, have you had your vitamin-D, B-12 and iron levels checked? Being low on those can also cause extreme fatigue. Perhaps you need to add another med to the mix, like methotrexate. My husband's rheumatologist says that most of her RA patients take MTX in conjunction with Remicade/Humira/Cimzia, and that MTX greatly enhances the effectiveness of the anti-tnf agents. She says the combination that works best for most patients is MTX + anti-tnf agent. She says the risk of uncontrolled inflammation is far worse than the risk of side effects from adding mtx to the mix. As always with crohn's disease, it's russian roulette with your life, but there's nothing new about
that
Anyway, I hope you can get to the bottom of things soon, and start feeling spritely again.
