Saw the GI today: 2 months post-resection and the disease is back.

Evidently I'm a fast relapser.  

We are going to scope in about a week and see what is going on before starting on a biological again. I am starting Imuran now but he said that takes awhile to get working in your system so he wants to see how much inflammation there is and then we may start back on Cimzia, which I gave a shot in the fall but was too far gone for it to do any good. If there isn't too much going on yet, we may just stick with the Imuran for awhile.

Anyone else relapse that quickly after surgery?

(it actually wasn't even 2 months - symptoms showed up 2.5 weeks ago, my 2 month date will be Saturday)

Aimee that sucks I know how it feels, I was promised 6 months remission minimum by my surgeon but only got 4.5 months. Not as bad as you but devistating none the less. I went on Prednisone and Imuran to knock it down which took 2 years. Then I started Remicade and that kind of stabilized me. Recently I asked to start the 5-asa's again as like you I was so sick the first time nothing was going to help me. I'm finding it's working for me and with the Remicade I feel better than I have in many years. I may be the odd one that 5-asa's seem to do good on. My gastro disagrees but I know my body better than she does.

I am one who had it come back withing 6 weeks of one of my resections. I don't know what your history is, but I believe that my 3 resections in such a short time frame are because the disease was left to run amok for 10 years while the doctors ignored me because I was only a teenager and couldn't possibly be as sick as I said I was. So I was untreated for 10 years. Even though after each surgery my doctor thought he had it all, I think there was some tiny little microscopic bit left and it just went wild.

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this but hopefully you caught it early and can get it under control fast.
