joint pain from remicade

I had  3 remicade treatment in 2002 then went off the meds.  My DR started  a new remicade treatment about a month ago.  The IV went fine but I had a horrrible reaction about 6 days later, where I had tremendous joint pain especially in my shoulders.  It  took a five day course of steriods that allowed me to move my shoulders again but I still have pain especially if i stay still for an extended time, like sleeping.  Does anyone else have this problem and will the joint pain ever go away?

There are people that actually do have a side effect from Remicade and other TNF inhibitors called drug induced lupus. It has been mentioned a couple of times on the board here and is usually caused by antibodies built up in your system but can also be a delayed reaction after your first initial infusion. I had it after being on Remicade for 4 years and also on Cimzia and humira. Your doctor can add methotrexate or 6-mp in combination with the Remicade to help counteract this but you need to bring it to their attention right away before it gets worse. After stopping Remicade for a year and now being back on it, I am not having the lupus like syndrome despite not using methotrexate now. The remicade is actually helping with my Crohn's arthritis.
