Disappointed, flares, meds

Just as I was feeling really perky for a few weeks, another "flare" came on. I swear it is so frustrating.  It started with unexplained extreme fatigue and aching for a while but when it started my stomach was feeling pretty good (except GERD.) Then, the colon started acting up again. I did miss several doses of my colazal so I guess I am to blame-:) Nevertheless, I get frustrated that the remissions don't seem to last all that long. It took me the better part of the year to figure out zoloft and nexium were not agreeing with the colitis, so I switched meds and was good for a while. Then this. My GERD has been acting up big time. I went to the rheumatologist last week and he did some more tests for auto immune disease. He gave me plaquenil and my stomach has felt so bad I have not taken them yet. I am afraid it will make things worse. It did when I tried it before. Thanks for listening. I just needed to vent! Oh, and I have to work a very long day tomorrow! Yuck!!

Stef, I have tried gluten free but it didn't do anything for me. I tried it for two weeks with no change.
When I have a flare, roughage really gets to me. Otherwise, I'd do the SCD. I don't drink milk, as I am lactose intolerant. I also can't have many nuts b/c they upset the stomach as well. On top of the inflammation, I have diverticula-:) Actually, the less I eat, the better I feel when I am having a flare. Tonight, it will be soy milk and rice. lol... And, I don't lose weight when I don't eat either!

Thanks Nanners, that's exactly what I have to do. I am actually a little better today. I think my fatigue is easing some and my stomach feels a bit better as well.

That's a perfect description if I ever heard one Matthew. It can be a drag.
