Ok. So, I was in the hospital for 3 days almost 2 weeks ago due to some sort of flare. Extreme pain on my left side, 20+ bathroom trips, was passing nothing but mucus with blood streaks by the time I went in to the ER. They admitted me, put me on Flagyl, Levaquin, and prednisone.

A week later, my doctor ordered a colonoscopy.

It came back completely clear, biopsies included.

What the HECK?? I am completely baffled, as is my doctor. I'm still having pretty steady pain on my left side, but nowhere near the level it was when I was in the hospital. Bowels are close to normal (5-6 trips a day), but I'm still on prednisone, which usually keeps things fairly calm.

Anyone have any great ideas or suggestions? I'm at my wit's end with all this. It's impeding my ability to work, enjoy my toddler, go out, etc. Help. :(

A couple of years ago, I was having severe Diarrhea. The docs thought it was a Crohn's flare and kept increasing my prednisone, which only made everything worse. They finally tested my stool and found out it was Salmonella...Cipro cleared it up. Maybe you had some sort of bacterial infection, which would cause all of your symptoms, but not show up on a colonoscopy. Now that you have had the antibiotics, you may have cleared the infection. How are you feeling now?

Another thought is to request a Pill cam test. This test sees areas where the scopes can't reach. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. Hugs!

They've actually tested my stool repeatedly to no avail....everything negative. This has been ongoing for a few years now - most times I get scoped, it comes back with active colitis, but nothing else. This time it just came back totally clear, which has everyone stumped.

Nanners, I'm supposed to have the PillCam done in the next month.....hopefully that will help.
