I have recently started with a Fissure around the anus. It stung when at the toilet and was bleeding a bit. I got a suppository drug from doctor and that started to help. I had no problems with them at all. I stopped taking the suppository drug 2 days ago as the pain has died down. I went to toilet today and I felt something unusual. It was like a ball between the size of a marble and a golf ball. I didnt know what it was but after a good feel I realized it was actually my anus that had swollen. It didnt really hurt of sting but I have no idea why it was swollen. Has anyone else with Crohns experienced this? does anyone know why it happened? I dont want to go to toilet in case its the same. Thanks all

Possibly hemmoroids or skin tags? Many with Crohns have skin tags or hemmoroids that can get irritated and swell when we are going alot.

Yep what Nanners says is true. I have 3 tags but don't get hemorrhoids anymore.

As soon as I feel anything around the anus...I use Webber Vitamine E ointment, available in first aid section of drugstore (Canada)

Othewise Vite E, multi sourced, mixed 1 cap to 1 tblsp Vaseline would do/

maybe it is a skin tag..when they are inflammed they can be horrible..watch it closely with a mirror and see if you can see a blood vessel running through it..thats what i saw in mine before...i did have one removed in Oct. so far so good no problems...just my anus will never look normal and the pain was little to nothing after it was removed...sitz baths and showerhead sprays are totally the only thing that helps sometimes to clean oneself and to take away pain...

sounds like it might be a start of hemmies, or maybe a skin tag.It is so difficult to see it yourself though! lol even with putting a mirror where you can see your bottom , its still hard to tell whether something is hemmorhoids or a skin tag!! When you have got hemmies do they stay or do they disaapear and come back because I have had them for about 4 yars now and dont seem to shrink or anything, just get painful when I have been to the loo often during the day,or should I ask the specialist if they are skin tags????

ashworth and sheep they both sound like Skin tags, your GI or a colorectal surgeon can confirm. I have had more than one dr not familar with crohns think my skin tags were hemmorids so becareful, if they do hemmie surgery on a skin tag you can be left with a mess.

Try soaking in a nice hot bath. I like anusol cream and proctosidal ointment.

I have a question.. just had pph stapling procedure done on wed, dec 22. I had internal and external hemorroids. The doctor also cut several skin tags off. Now I am very swollen all the way around my rectum. Has anyone experienced something similar? Does the swelling go down? How long does it take? Is there anything I can do to make the swelling go down. Of course it is x-mas eve, and doctors office is closed.. It actually looks worse down there than before. Is this normal since they were cutting??

I replied to your other post. You probably need to go to ER.

Normally, surgery in the perianal area, especially removal of skin tags, is avoided in Crohn's patients. There are often complications that can be pretty serious.

The skin tags are actually inflammatory tissue and should not have been removed.

I'm not sure what kind of doctor did the surgery and if your GI was consulted.

If you don't go to ER I would call your GI even tho it is after hours and let them know what's going on.
