When does Remicaide Stop Working?

Wondering if any of you have been on Remicaide long term (more than one year) and then had it stop working... I am a worry wart and really hope my husband will have Remicaide work for many years because it has improved his Crohn's so significantly.  Thanks for your input!

I was on it for 6 & 1/2 years. It stopped working around 6 years. Now I'm on Humira and it's doing ok. Hopefully your hubby with have a good long run with remicade.

It all depends on when your body develops antibodies against it.

I was on Remicade for a little over a year and it was great while it lasted. I developed anitbodies and my joints began to hurt. I am making the switch to Humira this month. (hopefully) Try not to worry and enjoy the benefits of Remicade and hope they last. Good luck

I developed antibodies maybe 6 months in and had to increase the frequency of the dosage.  That maybe helped for a few months and then I could tell it wasn't working very well.  A year in, I started having allergic reactions and stopped taking it.

In the SONIC trial update Infliximab, Azathioprine, or Combination Therapy for Crohn’s Disease published recently this year in the NEJM, of the 169 put on infliximab (aka remicade), 59 (39.6%) were in remission at week 50. Not very good results, but hopefully you are in the minority that respond for a long time. Of note, combining infliximab and imuran had 78/169 (46.2%) of patients in remission at week 50. More people will probably be on the combination of drugs due to this trial.
