joint pain; esp. in knees?

just coming out of a bad flare and my knees are killing me! anyone have this? i thought humira was suppopsed to help people with rheumatoid and for joints..why are my knees still hurting? i  just upped my dose to shots once a week added imuran and entocort..whats up? will it just go away or do i need to go back to the dr?

i see alot of people have joint pain with this..guess i'll just have to deal..ugh. i just weaned of prednisone a bit ago not looking to get back on cause it sure didnt help with the flare(or maybe it was because i had a stricture).

I suffer from joint issues related to Crohn's. Had a bad arthritic flare last spring where my knees, ankles, right pinky and jaw were swollen and hurt. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs did the trick for me. My acu also gave me a vegetarian glucosamine that seemed to help within two days of taking it. Complete relief took a couple of months, but I was able to get it under control without adding to my prescription regimen. I only took/take Pentasa, along with fish oil, a vegetarian lactobacillus probiotic (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS STRAIN FOR CROHN"S), glucosamine and a Chinese anti-inflammatory herb called Isatis Cooling. I feel for you. The joint pains can be debilitating. Best of luck.

Oh yes I understand the knee pain:( It sucks!! I will be having a total knee replacement soon and scared to death about that. I did find out though that the damage to my knees was not really from the Crohns but more genetics. Though he did say having Crohns didn't help the situation. Hope yours get feeling better soon. I know when I first wean off Pred I will have an increase in joint pain for a bit. Good luck!

I really wonder if one of the common links with Crohn's is a lack of lactobacillus. Many traditional GIs won't give any credence or consideration to this since they were never trained/don't receive continuing Ed on this. My acupuncturist conducted a CDSA stool test on me a year ago when my Crohn's-related arthritis flared. The test showed that I had zero growth of lactobacillus. Another Crohn's patient and an ulcerative colitis patient of hers also had zero growth of lactobacillus. I will say, since I started on it (along with acupuncture and Chinese herbs), my symptoms have totally resloved and the swelling has gone, too. I REALLY, REALLY think this may be a common thread for all of us and I hope others will try a lactobacillus strain for a couple of months to see if they improve.
