ChelRebe - I did have hair loss while on remicade, but it was
not related to the remicade. I had assumed it was the remicade at first because it was the most recently added med, but my doctor, nurse and others I questioned all indicated it wasn't one of the typical side effects. Mine was actually a bad reaction to the steriod I was on at the time (entocort). I had a few symptoms of what turned out to be steroid induced cushings (e.g., hair loss, extreme weight gain unrelated to food intake, cold sensitivity, etc.), but I never mentioned all of them to any one doctor and doctors weren't on the lookout since this is a rare complication of this particular steroid. While looking for answers, my online quest suggested that there are a lot of endocrinological reasons for hair loss (e.g., the most commonly mentioned is thyroid) - if you haven't done so already, I would make an appointment to see an endocrinologist (note, I'm not a doctor and I'm not saying there's something going on with your daughter, I've just learned the hard way on too many occasions that it's good to check out an odd symptom from multiple angles).
To answer your original question -- my doctors recommended biotin too and like funguy suggested I added in fish oil. In my case, none of it helped until I treated the underlying cause.
I hope you and your daughter find an answer soon.
