There's not much I can offer except instead of the Wet Wipes which as you say do sting, try Tucks. Or baby wipes. And don't wipe so much as pat yourself dry. Wiping irritates.
23 years or better w/this DD, eh? Gotchya beat! 
My symptoms began in mid-1975, but I got lucky and was Dx'd in early 1976. Problem was I couldn't tolerate azulfidine so resection of 18" of the mid-ileum in early 1978. 
But then I was blessed w/a 20 year remission of symptoms!!! And also blessed that the symptoms when they occur have been mild and Pentasa and Imuran have been able to keep them in symptomatic remission or full remission. Neither med can do the trick on their own in my case, it takes the two in partnership. Shows to go you, God does look after fools!
