hi everyone been having bad flairs 4 2yrs a stricture is the problam anyway allready had 3 surg on sml b coming of pred and on imuran 50m but every month am being sick and in pain its affecting my children as i am a single mum my youngest resents my being sick he never gets to go anywere seeing my surgen on mond as i have a stricture that needs an op 4 but wanting addvice should i just get an iliostomy bag and be done with it cos cant do this anymore help please.

My advice: be open and honest with your doc about how hard you're finding things, and how you want your life to be, then ask his / her advice on whether an ostomy would be the best option.

Your doc knows your body better than we do: s/he is the best person to ask for advice, imo.

having and ileostomy wont cure you.. so hold off on that decision..

It can take the Imuran a few months to work...I agree with Ivy, be sure to tell the doc. And like randynoguts said, there are other options before more surgery:

- you could try a higher dose of Imuran (the dose you are on is low)

- you could try biologics

- you could try changing your diet (but don't go off the med)

Maybe its time to try a different med???? But.. I have heard that many who have even temporary ostomies find they feel much better. You might want to pop over to our ostomy forum and get their take on it. Hugs!

Hi,

I'm pretty sure I have a stricture right now too. I'll find out in a few days. I also have small kids and I feel terrible that I can't do things like play with them all the time or go out places all the time or even put them in extra curricular activities like other moms.
I know exactly how you feel and it stinks.
Will a bag stop obstructions though? Cause I go through way too many obstructions. A bag won't cure, but does it provide a lot of relief?
