Pillcam? Remicaid? Just a couple questions!

Hubby did the Pillcam last Friday.  Still no pill.  redface    about how long did it take you to pass it?

He did the Barium test last Wednesday, and although we have not heard the results....I'm assuming that he didn't have anything severe going on or we would have heard about it....

He is starting Remicaid tomorrow due to the "track" lesions they found in his colonoscopy Friday a week ago.  For those who have been on Remicaid....about how long before you started seeing results? 

Hopefully we will get him straightened out soon!  smilewinkgrin

I took the pill cam on a Thursday and it came out Sunday night. I did not want to have an xray so I carefully checked for it every time I went.

I passed the capsule in just under 7 hours. It was still flashing and taking pictures inside the bowl of the toilet. My time was so rapid that good pictures could not be obtained. It could be that your husband passed the capsule and didn't see it.

However, at this point, I think he needs to phone the GI or doctor that prescribed the capsule endoscopy and let him know that the pill has not passed. They can order a xray to see if it is still in your hubby's bowels.

As for how long it took the Remicade to work - I had significant improvement in my bowels after the third infusion. However, I had "mild" CD when I started on Remicade. It was prescribed more for my severe arthritis.

Call the GI and let him know that the pill camera has not been seen. I hope Remicade works well for your husband!

I never saw my pill cam come back out, just assumed it had after a week or so.  But, I think you really are supposed to notify the dr. if you don't see it after several days.  I had a small bowel series with the barium on Tuesday of this week and was told my dr should have the report in 24 hrs...still haven't heard anything.  I will be calling on Tuesday if I still haven't heard anything.  If I were you, I'd call the drs office and ask...it's been over a week.  I don't remember exactly how long the Remicade took but I think it was a couple months since I was only getting the infusions every 8 weeks to start with.
