Methotrexate update- hope =)

I had my fifth injection last Friday... I had neglected to drink water the day before and the severe nausea I had taught me my lesson.. I won't be doing that again. I was tired this weekend but didn't sleep and except for the nausea felt okayish. My vision still goes haywire and my face still swells. I tried the benedryl but it didnt work, the face swelling started to diminish yesterday. Today I have none. I have noticed weight gain without changing my diet and am curious if it is the mtx. I googled and found people who have put on unexplained weight around the middle. For me its been fast. Since the start of the injections, I have gained 9 lbs... most of it in the last two weeks with no change in eating. My prednisone is down to 15mg and looks like he plans on holding me at 10.. I switch to that at the end of the week.

This week my good days started on Tuesday instead of Wednesday. I haven't taken my colestipol or imodium for three days and have had some normal bm's. Energy levels are decent.

I have hope. I am trying to see if I can live with the facial swelling and blurry vision.. just work through it. Wondering if it will go away in time. But if I continue to start to heal than I will have some semblance of my life back and thats the goal.

Today I woke up with a cold.. my children are back in school and I keep hearing that everyone is sick. dreaded words. I have a call into the doctor because I have no idea if this affects the injection. Joint pain is not the greatest today but I had so much energy yesterday that I think I did too much...I haven't been able to do anything in 8 months so it was nice.. even if I am paying for it today.

thanks you Kaz, it is good to have good days... I have hope that eventually the bad days will be very limited... today is icky.. big D is back, and mad it would seem. The doctor called in the zpack for me...doesn't want me fooling around with any virus..and wants me to continue the injection on friday.

I am glad they are back in school too.. but yikes.. school just seems to be a breeding ground for every germ out there...sorry you have an infection.. hope you feel better soon!!

Thanks Barb. My GI is cooperating knowing that the Mayo is watching them closely. If I don't improve within the next two months, I am to report back to the Mayo. They have promised to work me in . The Mayo really pushed for me to continue the MTX, they truly feel it will help me once I am off the prednisone. They feel my reactions are because of the two combined.. for some reason my system is just difficult.

I have hope..finally. Any positive change I will gladly take. Thank you for thinking of me...must be all those positive vibes I was feeling =)
