Hello all~

My husband was recently diagnosed with mild C. diff after a colonoscopy and has been on Flagyl (metronidazole) for the past 3 days.  Today he suddenly experienced 5 loose stools within 2 hours and his abdomen feels slightly distended.  I am wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this at all.  Please help! Thank you!

Diarrhea is one of the side effects listed for Flagyl. Wasn't he experiencing diarrhea PRIOR to the diagnosis of C. Diff? To be safe, he should notify his doctor.

His diarrhea wasn't that bad actually with his diagnosis but it needed to be treated anyways; it just seems excessive to have that much D in one day.....any thoughts? I will be calling his md tomorrow..

He should be taking a probiotic with the antibiotic. Not only will it help with antibiotic-induced diarrhea, but also with keeping the C. Diff away. I'm battling my third round of D. Diff at the moment, so I know how he feels... With my C. Diff, I'll have diarrhea for over 10 times on some days, but other days not go at all...but then again, with Crohn's disease involved, everything becomes a mystery.
