I've been on the pill for many years. Not only for birth control (as all my doctors agree it would be risky for me to have another pregnancy). But also because I get painful ovarian cysts. Horrible migraines with every period, and almost always seem to have D problems then as well. I don't have periods anymore, I skip them with the pill.
I have talked about the risks with my GYN. Right now we feel the risk of clots don't outwiegh all my other problems. I mean with Crohn's we are at a higher risk for a lot of things. Doesn't mean that it is common though, doesn't mean that it will happen. It's good to know about them though. I wonder how much our risks are also increased because we tend to lay around in bed a lot when were sick. Or after surgery. Which is understandable, but maybe a good warning to try and get up when we can and move around!
I did have phlebitis one time, but that was only because a nurse pushed phenegren directly in to my IV by my hand. Not up higher in the line as they should. I think this is a bigger risk to us, as it seems to be pretty common!
