TWO DIFFERENT DOCTORS' OFFICES

Boy, if this doesn't hit the nail on the head, I don't know what does!
Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint. Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement.

The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week.
The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn't reviewed for another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for 6 months from then.

 
Why the different treatment for the two patients?
The FIRST is a Golden Retriever.
The SECOND is a Senior Citizen.
Next time take me to a vet!

In recent years, I've said that my dogs get better medical treatment than I do! And, when they are old, sick and dying, someone can give them a shot so they can go out peacefully. It's certainly more than we get! The insurance stuff always gets in the way of how we are treated/not treated.

Lets not forget that the dog is not likely to sue the vet for malpractice . I do wish I could do one thing the dog can ,,noooooooo not that ,,,,wish I could bite the doc in the a------when I dont like the treatment.

You know, JeanneAC, I've often wondered .... on TV you "see" a prison death sentence carried out via "chemical euthanasia" and the charges it is painful, etc. 

But what do they do different w/our dogs that they don't do w/the prisoners?? Only once did I ever see a painful death of a dog due to euthanasia and that was due to the  veterinarian using outdated Lethol. And vets don't use a cocktail of drugs, they use just the one drug w/one injection into one vein in the foreleg. So why do our dogs go peacefully and it is supposedly painful for humans?

Thats one of the issues that people will differ on forever C2. Look at all the people waving banners when a murderer is being executed . Oh its not right to kill him they say, its inhumane...But what about the ones that he killed ? Did he do it in a humane way ? Guess I'm on the other side of the fence here. If my family was involved they would have to make sure I did not get to him first. Hes far better off with an injection I can assure you...Hope I dont start a big brewhaha here. Just mho....

The reason why they use a cocktail of drugs in humans is because of body weight issues, and you need back ups in case the first IV gets blown.

plus its supposed to be a secret thing... usually 3 vials and 3 people are suppossed to push a button so that no one will know which one killed the SOB.... kinda like a firing sqaud suppossed to be 5 shooters who are handed the guns already loaded, 1 of the 5 is a blank so that everyone can have a reasonable idea they did not kill the SOB. also all are required to aim for the same spot over the heart so that one guy doesn't aim for the belly and not see a hole so everyone would know he did not kill the SOB. the only real exicutionaer any more is the beheader. even the hangman has multiple levers each person hooks a ring to a stick. then all are pulled at once while the SOB drops..

oh and Navy, its more about being humane than backups. they are suppossed to be sedated BEFORE they get the killer drug so they dont realize its going in ;o) at least thats what the manual of execution says..

I agree with you that the first part of the injections is about being more humane, but the second (cease breathing) and third (cease heart contraction) would kill on their own, the other is there to in case the line blows.

Back to the vet thing.  My vet thinks my dog might have colitis.  I told her that he did go on the crohn's and colitis walk with me and she tells me.....wait for it...wel,l colitis isn't contagious!  Really?!  Apparently, I look dumber then I really am!  :)  But, seriously, what are the odds that I would buy a puppy that has colitis.  He actually picked me out.  I think he sniffed out a kindred spirit.
