Crohns back in 5 weeks????

Well, thats me home from 3rd stay in hospital since resection 6 weeks ago! Second visit was obstruction .... which happens......bloody paindul ....but one of the hazzards. So, I've been in quite a bit of pain since the obstruction ...and I just thought I should be better than I was at 4 weeks ....and then again at 5 weeks .... sure enough ....temp went up to 103.7 ...off to ER got my 4th CT scan in 4 months ..... now.... the radiographer says he see's active Crohns.....my jaw hit the floor .... surely it must be that the surgeon never got it all ....it's not come back that soon???? Docs say it might be just infection ...... which I know is there and would account for fever.....so they treated me with iv antibiotics for 3 days....got home yesterday ...still sore .... same as before...... I'm exhausted with it all ....can't bare the thought of another op!!! Can Crohns really come back that quick????? I'm in shock!

After my first resection, the CD came back in the resected part of TI in about 6 weeks. They could see inflammation when I went for an ultrasound which I think was about 3 months later or less. A scope much later proved for sure that CD had recurred. It is now five years later and I have possibly developed a stricture and may get surgery #2.

I suggest if you haven't already, go on a strong multi probiotic, reduce all refined sugars, dairy (unless yogurt with live cultures), and processed food to help starve the infection. You may want to try gluten free too.
I didn't try this until a year or two after my resection when the CD had already recurred.

Also, and just as importantly, you should be getting on pentasa soon or another med to keep the CD from recurring. Ask you GI about that asap.

p.s When you have a leak then infection .....is that classed as Septicemia or is that only when blood is affected???

I had a resection 2 weeks ago and am still suffering from sudden explosive D and obviously discomfort from op site (25cm wound and about 30cm of bowel removed). How would I know, with all this going on , if the Crohns had returned ? My surgeon has removed strictures and said he got all the Crohns but from what I have read the bowel can take months to recover and the main symptom is more or less the same as my crohns symptoms - lots of loo trips. I am seeing my surgeon at the end of this week but my GI told me he probably won't need to see me again for about 6 months. I am feeling really confused now - help please!
