veinnaman-
I am so there with you as I'm sure a lot of people on here are. That urge to go can come on so suddenly and heaven forbid you are out and about or are right in the middle of something and think you have a little time and then realize you don't. It sucks. My kids and hubby are used to the quick walk/sprint trying to make it to the bathroom on time and sometimes not quite getting there.
My Dr tried me on Colestid and it doesn't work for me. I get more relief from taking an immodium once or twice a day. You should check with your Dr to see if this could be an option for you.
Also, I have found it is better to prepare in advance. I wear pads in my underwear. You can get some in the feminine hygiene section or in the adult incontinence section. Whichever, I think they both work about the same, and usually the feminie hygiene is cheaper. You can also purchase the adult incontinence underwear if you would be more comfortable going that route. I know it's extremely embarrasing, but so is having accidents, and I would rather throw a pad away than have to throw the whole pair of underwear away.
As Ivy said, sometimes it takes a while after surgery for your bowels to start working regularly. Hopefully, this is the case. I have had urgency and accidents both before and after my surgery, so for me, it's just something I have to live with and I try and find ways to deal with it.
Good luck!
