Postpone Humira shot

Do you guys postpone your Humira injection when you get sick? I got the stomach flu yesterday, and stupidly didn't call me GI today to ask. Thanks!

Yes, do not take a biologic medication when you are sick unless you clear it with your doctor. Taking your Humira when ill can further lower your immune response thereby creating the potential for the illness to be more severe.

Sorry to hear you are sick with the flu. I would wait one week and then take your humira shot. Hows the baby? I hope this flu isn't making its way through your family. Go Saskatchewan!

That's kind of disappointing, I was hoping I could take it still. I don't have a fever anymore...Thanks Ides and Julia.

The baby is wonderful Julia, thanks for asking. 15 and a half months now - can you believe it? Unfortunately she's had colds continuously since starting daycare 2 1/2 months ago - as have I and my wife. This was the first flu though. Honestly, I don't know how I'm going to make it through the winter....it's not even November yet!

I hope you're doing well these days.

I have heard that Vit D really helps to fight off the bugs. I am pretty sure that the whole family can take it. Hugs and hope you get feeling better.

Hi Rider,

That 15 months flew by. Soon you will be telling us that a little brother or sister is on the way. We moved our baby to Winnipeg in August to attend school at U of M. I am thrilled for her, but lonesome. I am still on humira, but not sure for how much longer. I am starting to have ankle and shoulder pain (alternating) and suspect it could be lupus visiting again. I see my GI in one week, so I will know more then. My next step is Cimzia, but it hasn't been approved in Canada yet.

I hope you and your family are over the flu and enjoying your weekend. I guess lastnight's football game would have put a damper on that though.

Hi Julia, somehow I think I missed this post! LOL, little brother or sister....we'll see....

U of M was a great experience for me. I earned my B. Comm there. I hope she's enjoying it.

Are you still on Humira or did you have to stop?
