New to Crohn's, questions and acne!!

Hey Guys!
I was diagnosed with Crohns in april of 2009 after having been in the hospital for 3 weeks. I was released from my combat unit and am now studying for a masters in counter terrorism and homeland security. I am on 4.8 grams of ascol daily, and 200 mg of Imuran. So now comes the question i have been for the past 6 months twice on 3 months dosages of prednisone starting at 50mg and tapering down. I am finally off of them!! about 3 weeks ago. And i have horrible acne now! Did this happen to anyone else?? and what did you guys try/do to make it better? Also i dont know if i would say everything is ok, but no stomach pains and no bloody stools! yet even though i go to the bathroom a normal amount for me, the stools still seem "soft", is this just something that is normal for Crohn's people for there whole life?? Hi Mike and welcome to Healingwell. Soft stools are pretty common for most of us. As for the acne, the Prednisone is the culprit. Hopefully now that you are off of it the acne will improve. Good luck!

I did reply to a post about this further down :) Son(17) errupted in acne when he ws put on entecort(steroid), was plastered head to toe. Did nothing for a few weeks believing it to be the steroids but when he had an appointment with endocrinologist(re lack of height growth wise)he said that son needed to get treatment for it.
Dr prescribed Zineryt which done a really good job(took a few weeks mind you) Son was unhappy regarding the post inflammatory changes though(red 'scar' like marks and dents in skin) so he has now been put onto retin-a which basically 'peels' the skin hopefully to leave nice fresh skin!! This is having a much slower affect(although it does say that it can take some time)
I would say try something like Zineryt(topical lotion) I believe it is anti-bacterial -it treats the bacteria that causes acne, once that is under control you can then look at something to minimise the appearance of acne damage.I wouldn't leave it because it is bacteria doing the damage and needs to be sorted(I don't quite know how the steroids promote acne though)
It appears that son is on sister meds to what you are on(pentasa/azathioprine!)
