Hi-

I have been lurking around the forums for a little while (since my latest flare started back in May.) My name is Kari, I am 38 and I was diagnosed when I was 16. I had 18 inches of my small intestines (including my ileum) removed in 2004 and was symptom free until, as I stated, back in May.

I am about to start Humira injections as soon as the pre-approval process is completed through my insurance and I have to say, I am a little frightened. I don't do well with needles so I am not sure how well I will deal.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for all of your posts. It's nice to know that I am not the only one. :)

Hi Kari! Just wanted to welcome you and glad you stepped out from the lurker section!

In my opinion, Humira isn't that bad. The medicine going in burns a little, but the shot itself is nothing. If you use the pen, it makes a 'snapping' noise as the spring is released, you feel about 10 seconds of slight burning, and then it's over.

Welcome! I am new to Humira also and it isn't as bad as it seems! I have found this forum very useful in my recovery and understanding of crohns in my recent flare and I hope it helps for you too!

I am hoping I can handle giving myself shots. I suck at taking pills, I just can't remember multiple doses a day. :(

Hi! Welcome. This is a great forum with lots of great people. you will be suprised what you can get used to. I had a cat a year ago that developed diabetes and I thought I would never be able to give her shots. But I got thru it. Take a deep breath and every time gets easier.
