All of us respond a little differently and CRP is just one measurement. Some people can have a normal CRP and still have active Crohn's. For the most part, it will reflect inflammation, which is why doctors use it. 4 is not super bad, but again it's all relative. Some scales will show anything under 10 as "normal." My GIs (plural) have said that most healthy people have a CRP of less than 1.0.
All that aside, CRP changes more quickly in response to inflammation than sed rate does. Even if a '4' is not super high, it still likely means you have inflammation.
