I have been on Humira since Oct. 2009 with no real change in my fistula or Crohns symptoms. When I did flare up in April of this year, it was the dreaded prednisone that did the trick. We quickly went from 40 mg down to 10, which is where I stay.
Fistula is of unknown origin, but drains to my abdomen just below my belly button. I had a cleanout surgery in March, but it didn't seem to make a difference.
I have considered a 2nd opinion (i.e. more surgery?) but now I wonder if I should try switching to Remicade if it has better results getting rid of fistulas. I chose Humira originally because I could do the injections at home.
I have been on Flagyl the entire time, and on Cipro for short courses when it seemed like the infection/abcess might be returning.
Should I see if I can switch to Remicade?
