Mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey, bread - easy on the Crohn's?

Every year that I am not hospitalized and am able to enjoy holiday fare (ie - mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey and bread/breaded stuffing) I note how well I tolerate this particular fare. This year in particular I was so pleased that my wife bought breaded stuffing without any of the little green spices in them (celery, etc.) which I normally have to pick out. I guess it's just the softness, perhaps with a touch of fiber, which has consistently treated my inflamed gut very well. Is it just me or do others agree?

I tend to do well with that kind of meal myself. Probably because there's nothing "scratchy" going through my gut. I do have to be careful of gravy. It tends to make me mucousy. Glad you enjoyed your meal! I had pork chops, mashed taters and steamed chard...and a boatload of chocolates. I'll probably pass away peacefully in my sleep tonight. But what a way to go! LOL!

Those type of meals always agree with me better than any other foods. Glad you got to enjoy your meal. Hugs!

Mmmm! That's exactly what I'm cooking today. Yesterday we were at my sisters with the whole family
(about 20 of us) and for that reason we had a buffet. Sooooo Today I get 7 of us to have the dinner
we should've had yesterday. (lucky me) Just got to try and slap a smile on my face, which is difficult
through gritted teeth (pain) LOL

Yup, one of my favorites and it goes down well. I make it once a month or so. But for Xmas we started splurging a bunch of years ago and having a prime rib dinner. The last few years we have gone to my sister in law's though. Neither she nor her husband are very good cooks, so they make a lasagna that is not very good, a big salad, and rolls. That is Xmas dinner, but not in our book.

So today, I made a wonderful roast, mashed potato and gravy. DELISH. Probably had a bit too much gravy, but I don't have to work tomorrow and its a holiday so , I will eat my special dinner and be happy, happy, happy. Especially since we are having a huge blizzard outside and we ate by the roaring fire. It was a perfect quiet holiday night!
