OK, try to visualize with me, if I can't get the point across I will make photos...
I am going to describe this in a way to not cause pain (hopefully) and allow you to stretch your tendons a bit so it won't hurt.
Place your hands together, palm to palm like praying in front of your face, finger to finger, thumb to thumb. If you got that then proceed.
Gently and easily lower your hands, bringing your elbows parallel to the floor, and keep your hands together as above. If it hurts, or your tendons in your wrists feel tight, only go as far as you can. The important goal is palms together, arms parallel to floor. If you can keep your hands together this way with no pain, proceed to next step.
The next step is similar, but reversed. Put the back of one hand to the back of the other, finger to finger, thumb to thumb. For this I start my hands together about waist level and bring my hands up and making my arms parallel to the floor. Goal is to keep hands together. Stop if there is pain of course.
It may not 100% diagnose whether you have carpal tunnel or not. (I'm not a doctor ) But if you cannot do this (this is how my dx started, couple with those other symptoms) without pain, take note of the location, type and severity of the pain, it may help you decide about pursuing it to a doctor where they will end up doing some very cool nerve induction tests on you. If nothing else it is a VERY good prepratory stretch for your hands. I can recommend more of those as well due to physical therapy recovery of carpal tunnel.
Hope this helps, let me now how your fare.
