Speed-of-light Imuran?

Hi all,

Tuesday my doctor received the results from my capsule test only to find out that I have small, shallow wounds all along my small bowel. He gave me two options: Imurel or Humira, but told me he would rather start with Imurel (I guess the civilization calls it Imuran?).

He gave me the pros and cons on Imurel, among those that I might feel nauseated, liver, kidney and bone marrow problems, loose hair and so on. But what to do, it is the option he offers!

After crying in the bus on my way home, and home almost all night I started wondering about the medication. So my question to you "experienced" people, how long does it take for Imurel to show some desired and secondary effects? So far I have taken it during two days (3x50mg daily) and nothing, no new feelings apart from the standard crappy Chron pains.

Anyway, I have a blood test tomorrow and we'll find out how I'm doing.

Imuran can take 4 mos to reach full efficacy. Usually docs start folks on Pred to taper down until the Imuran kicks in. Be sure you get regular blood work per doctors orders to make sure all is going well. We have had many members using this med and the sister med 6mp for over 10 years. Good luck!
