when do i give up

Well so far I havn't noticed much difference in taking Remicade.. the only thing i have noticed is i am not bleeding when i have a bw, so i suppose that is good.

I am still either backed up for days, or going like crazy. Bad cramping in the gut area and gas. Oh good lord the gas.\

I go for my 3rd dose on the 17th of Feb. so when will i know if it working properly or to move on to something else.

I guess i am just tired of waiting. It seems i am always waiting for something to happen or hope to god something doesn't happen.

Give it a little longer. If the bleeding has stopped that's a good indication that the drug is working. It's been a while, but I think it took until the first regular dose after the loading doses that I noticed a marked improvement.

I agree with the others. Don't stop too early... Sometimes it takes a while to kick in and Remicade is one of those drugs for which your body can build anti-bodies, making it difficult to return and try the drug again. Stay on it as comedybob says and give it a fair shake before moving on. I know it's hard to be patient, but as a person who wishes she'd not stopped Remicade when I did,... I just hate to think of someone else losing that chance. Some people can go back on after they've already taken it, but it's not a given.

oh the diet is hardly anything..so things that would normaly cause me gas i don't eat
. i just don't eat much any more. i really don't eat cause it tastes good, i just eat to stay alive.

I know I was horribly frustrated as well.  Especially as I started things seemed to be getting worse.  I was informed to not take my calcium the same time as my other pills and when I quit doing that things finally started to improve. Slowly.  This may sound weird but I know no better way to describe this.......although I am still having issues and episodes, I feel like I am moving backwards through my symptoms.  Things don't hurt the same way as yesterday, but more like they did a couple years ago before I got bad enough to get to the doctor.  Does this make any kind of sense to understand?  You may need to give it more time.....I see this regression in pain and symptoms as my body healing back to where it was before.

mdf, how amazing! I notice the regression in symptoms too! They literally rewind, one by one: bizarre, isn't it?

It's so wonderful to hear someone else say that, and in the same words that I'd use, too. I had kept my impressions to myself, thinking that I was mad, or delusional. .

Takilra, I agree with the others. Please do give it some more time.

keep going with the rem, my gi said that he can add other type drugs along with rem, I thought the same way at first, but I gave it longer and my dose had to be increased, so I'm at 5mg plus pain med's. not pain or symptom free, but less symptomatic, you know the pains are less, no major cramping episodes, small ones, not like the ones where we have to get in fetal position and every 45 seconds it's a wave of cramps. so I don't get those, but I'm still afraid, those cramping sessions are brutal, I've had 2 major obstructions, that required surgery to correct, the first one was in 1971 and I was very close to dying, at the ripe age of 20. so it is tough to get those images out of my head when I get those gas blockages(cramp)

I was told to wait 6 months. Meanwhile you yourself have seen improvement as stated in your original post. Hope it gets much better still.
